As a Patient Care Technician, my days are filled with the rhythm of vital signs, the gentle hum of medical equipment, and the constant ebb and flow of human interaction. While I’m there to assist with the physical needs of my patients, what I didn’t fully grasp when I started this journey was the profound education I would receive in return. My patients, in their vulnerability and resilience, have become my most impactful teachers.

It’s not in the textbooks or during in-service training that these lessons are truly learned. They are whispered in moments of shared silence, revealed through tear-filled eyes, and demonstrated in acts of quiet courage. The Importance of Living in the Present Moment: In the sterile environment of a hospital room, stripped of the familiar comforts of home, the focus often narrows to the here and now. My role as a PCT is to provide care, but the truth is, I receive just as much in return.
